Après un long mois d’Octobre, SHAKE YOUR Groove THING revient en force et toujours en VINYLE avec une fois encore un invité de marque, parfait ambassadeur de la culture soul, funk, afro, boogie, à savoir le britannique Nik Weston, fondateur du Label Mukatsuku Records, mine d’or en terme d’edits et reissues 7" et 12"!
Un seul mot d’ordre donc pour une telle occasion... DANSER! (on pourrait y rajouter une liste de plein d’autres tels, sauter, s’éclater ou encore transpirer)
C’est immanquable, c’est toujours au Fat Black Pussycat et à priori c’est la dernière "Shake" de l’année!!

Nik Weston has been running club nights since the mid 1990’s and has put out over 80 cds/albums/singles since 2001 so far on European,US and Japanese labels including 8 compilations on Japanese, US and European record labels with sales to date over 200,000 units. As of Summer 2014 additionally Nik has released 32 singles on his own Mukatsuku Records strictly vinyl only label imprint & 6 releases on the now defunct GUYNAMUKAT afro disco boogie edits label. In the last 30 years spinning records Nik has played in over 30 countries and is a regular visitor to Japan where he has completed over 20 DJ Tours.
As a DJ Nik has played alongside hundreds of bands and DJ’s worldwide including Nicola Conte, Gilles Peterson, DJ Krush, Patrick Forge ,Jazzanova, Marlena Shaw, Tania Maria, Recloose, Moodymann, Koop, Jose James, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Incognito, Pharoah Sanders ,Quasimode, Mc Coy Tyner, Sleep Walker,Soil & Pimp Sessions,Tatsuo Sunaga,Toshop Matsuura,Kyoto Jazz Massive,Yukihiro Fukutomi,Jazztronik,Kei Kobayashi,DJ Mitsu the Beats, Richard Dorfmeister,Sleep Walker, Osaka Monaurail, Grooveman Spot, Five Corners Quintet, Coldfeet, Hugh Masekela,Courtney Pine,Tricky,Ross Allen and many many more. He has played many Jazz & funk events around the world including London Jazz Café (around 50 times) plus was a monthly resident at Russ Dewbury’s Jazz Room sessions for 3 years. He has also played at two of the uk’s established Jazz Sessions Shiftless Shuffle & Nottingham’s Out To Lunch and played other Jazz sessions at Ronnie Scotts, Blue Note Club in Yokohama Japan, Jazz Altitudes in France, Jazzystan in Kazahkstan, & Big Chill Festival etc etc. Nik’s current monthly residencies include South London Soul Train & latin brazilian night Fuego
As a producer over the last eight years he has put out many edits and remixes under the GUYNAMUKAT guise which have been supported from the likes of Danny Krivit, Gilles Peterson,Jazzanova, Ashley Beedle, LEFTO, Joe Claussell, Floating Points and Mr Scruff to name just a few. Nik has also put out on vinyl around 100 cheeky edits of funk, latin , afro,boogie/disco and reggae under various guises for various labels. His remixes for Kaleta & Akoya Afrobeat remains the globally best selling vinyl only afrobeat 12 inch single from the last 6 years
In 2012 Nik launched a new label called MUKAT afro disco boogie edits which has appealed to the likes of Joey Negro, Ashley Beedle & Faze Action and will put out a new volume every 3-4 months. Volume 6 of the series came out April 2014 and a new volume will follow in Sep 2014 As a DJ Nik plays mostly vinyl with a choice selection of 45’s funk,Afrobeat, latin & brazilian funk, Jazz, Afro Boogie plus a selection of his own edits and production with music aimed firmly at the dance floor. For 2014 Mukatsuku plans another 4 releases on the label and hopefully another couple of MUKAT Edit 12 inch releases
